Antique Small Alabaster Bust of a Woman in Lace Edged Prairie Style Hood

When we sourced this alabaster bust, the collector indicated that it was originally carved in the Victorian era (1800s to early 1900s). The overall condition and discoloration in the alabaster support that estimated age. It is beautifully and delicately carved and it has no chips, cracks, or breaks. There are signs of age and wear, like scratches and discoloration, as is typical for aged alabaster due to it being a relatively soft and absorbent stone. Please see the listing photos closely as they serve as part of the description of her condition. Where the bust meets the base, you can see evidence of the adhesive used to connect and secure the two pieces together. We are unsure if this is the original adhesive used to finish this carving or a later repair to reconnect the two parts. The bottom of the bust has "Made in Italy" faintly carved into the base, but no signature is present. We love the delicate lace details of her Prairie style bonnet and her wavey hair tucked underneath. The carving on this piece is subtle and stunning. Perfect as a small accent bust for anywhere in your home, studio or office. She would look stunning on a stack of books, bookshelf, open kitchen shelving, on a coffee table, dresser or nightstand.

As much as possible, we utilize recycled shipping boxes. The box you receive your item in may show signs of wear and pre-use.
